What is the difference between Botox® and Dysport®?
Most neuromodulators are often referred to as "Botox," but this is actually the brand name.
Botox® and Dysport® are both FDA approved and have the same active ingredient. If you have an allergy to cows milk, Dysport® is not for you as lactose is an inactive ingredient.
They both have the same mechanism of action to reduce/soften wrinkles but Botox® Resistance is a possibility for long term users as Botox® is formulated with protective proteins and your body may form antibodies, lessening the effectiveness. Your injector will discuss the best fit for your desired aesthetics goals.
How long do results last for?
Neuromodulator treatment typically will last 4-6 months for most clients (depending on the area being treated). Your injector will review expected longevity of specific areas during your appointment.
Do Botox® and Dysport® injections hurt?
Most clients describe the injection to feel like "popping a pimple" or a "tiny insect bite." Talk to your injector to discuss numbing creams and lidocaine!
How long does Botox® and Dysport® injections take?
The treatment itself typically takes 5-10 minutes to perform (depending on number of areas treated). Some clients will even pop in on their lunch or coffee break to seek repeated treatments.
First time appointments will typically take a little longer as we will review your medical history, previous treatments, procedure expectations, cost quotation, pre/post care instructions, expectations of treatments, etc.
